The financial value of our environment

Gretchen Daily of Stanford University is working to integrate biological sciences with economics to realistically calculate the financial worth of our environment. For example, insects alone contribute about $60b annually to the US economy. Linking economics with environmental care could make both more successful, for example by supporting decisions about watersheds, forests, and fisheries that are profitable in the long-term. more
